What is a character counter?

A character counter counts letters, digits, spaces, and symbols in text. It often also reports words and sentences so you can meet limits (e.g. Twitter, meta descriptions, SMS) or check readability at a glance.

Why this tool is useful

Many forms and platforms enforce character or word limits. Writing blind leads to trimming at the last moment. This tool updates counts live as you type or paste—no submit button. Use it for bios, headlines, ads, or any place where length matters.

Example usage

Paste a paragraph and see Characters, Words, and Sentences update immediately. Check a meta description against 160 characters or a title against 60. The output is plain text you can copy; the tool runs entirely in your browser.

How to use this tool

Type or paste text in the input box. Counts appear below with no extra action. Use Copy to grab the summary or Clear to reset. For more detailed text tools, try Word Counter for word-level stats or Case Converter for changing case.
