What is a word counter?
A word counter counts words, characters, and sentences in a block of text. Writers and editors use it to hit length limits, check readability, or track progress. This tool updates the counts live as you type—no button to press.
Why this tool is useful
Many platforms have limits: tweets, meta descriptions, abstracts, or form fields. Knowing your word and character count before you submit avoids cut-off text or rejection. Students and professionals also use word counts to meet assignment or brief requirements.
Example usage
Paste a paragraph and you immediately see words, characters, and sentences. Try the example buttons for a short or longer sample. The output stays in sync with the input at all times.
How to use this tool
Paste or type in the input area. Counts appear below. Use Clear to reset. No data is sent to a server. For more stats (e.g. characters only), try Character Counter; for formatting, try Case Converter or JSON Formatter.
